AF05E Identification, Tuning, and upgrades
There has been a lot of confusion regarding how to identify the different AF05 engines, what upgrades will fit, and what upgrades will not fit. This write up should clear things up for you.
There are a handful of different engine styles, the biggest difference is the engine with a variable transmission, and those without a variable transmission (fixed / single speed)
The single speed transmission AF05E is found in the 1984-1987 Honda Spree, and 1988-1989 Honda Elite SB50(P)
The variable transmission AF05E is found in a handful of models of Elite and Aero scooters, ranging from 1985 to 1993. These scooters include the 1985-1987 Aero NB50, 1987 Elite SE50, 1988-1993 SA50.
The easiest way to identify what parts will fit your scooter is by it's VIN. The vin number is located on the frame of the scooter and is 17 characters long
Single Speed AF05 engines will have vin numbers starting with JH2AF06 and JH2AF17
Variated AF05 engines will have vin numbers starting with JH2AF09, JH2AF12, JH2AF16.
